Historic Belmont Mansion Is Selected As A Freedom Station Of Underground Railroad

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center (NURFC) of Cincinnati, Ohio has officially recognized Historic Belmont Mansion as one of the first Freedom Stations of the Underground Railroad.

The NURFC and American Women's Heritage Society (AWHS) have signed an agreement that establishes Belmont Mansion as a Freedom Station and affiliate of the NURFC. This affiliation gives Belmont Mansion access to the official NURFC website, digital library and curriculum materials. Also, the affiliation grants Belmont Mansion opportunities to engage local foundations, corporate sponsors and other Underground Railroad sites.

Oprah Winfrey has become a corporate sponsor, and she has donated $1 million to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
